Las Vegas Weekend Guide 2022

If you’re planning a trip to Las Vegas in the near future, I’ve got tons of recommendations and advice for you! Overall we had an amazing trip. We saw, ate and did everything we wanted in the two days we were there.
First off, I want to emphasize how important it is to plan for extra time in Vegas. We made reservations everywhere, and 100% of the time they were running about 30 minutes behind. Also plan for traffic if you’re going to be there on the weekend!
Food
On Friday night, we ate at Carbone which is located in the Aria. It was incredible Italian food. If you want to get into Carbone, you need to make a reservation 2-3 months ahead of time. I stalked the reservations for a whole month waiting for a spot to open up and was so excited to get one. If you’re planning on visiting during the week, it’s not as difficult to get a reservation, but definitely plan ahead if you’re wanting a Friday or Saturday resy.

Another thing to plan for when dining at Carbone is to have at least 3 hours to dine with them. The whole experience was so wonderful, but we had an 8:15 reservation and a show that started at 11. We almost missed our show and had to rush through our dinner because we didn’t know this information, so again, plan ahead!
On Saturday, we dined at the Wynn Buffet for brunch. I can easily say it was my favorite buffet I’ve ever eaten at! Everything was so yummy. They have food and desserts from just about everywhere. Truly, any food you could ever want existed at this buffet and every single dish was five-star.
If you’re planning to dine at the Wynn Buffet, I’d suggest reserving your spot and paying ahead of time on their website. We pre-payed for our entire party, (Bottomless drink package too, of course!) and it let us skip about 75 people in line who were “walk-ins”.
For dinner on Saturday evening, we went to Beauty & Essex. This restaurant is located in The Cosmopolitan and is a speak-easy of sorts. You walk up to what looks like a pawn shop, and they walk you through it to a door which leads to the restaurant. Beauty & Essex was my favorite restaurant we dined at! Everything is meant to be shareable, and I would absolutely suggest doing this. We all got to try about eight different dishes from the menu and they were all incredible. If you’re still hungry after your meal, definitely get the dessert wheel! It was full of delicious desserts curated by the chef, all in a lit-up, spinning mini ferris wheel.
Bars
On Saturday, we went to the SkyBar located in the Waldorf Astoria. They had an incredible view of Vegas, and it was a really nice place to “take a beat.” It was very chill and more slower-paced, which is needed in Vegas!

After dinner on Saturday, we went to The Chandelier Bar – also located in The Cosmopolitan. This bar is beautiful! It’s quite literally a giant chandelier (great photo-opp!). You can stand and drink in the bar or take your drink out to gamble.
Spa
On Friday morning, we had a girl’s spa day. We ended up at The Spa at The Encore. All of our experiences were wonderful! We all got 50-minute massages, then spent about 2 hours enjoying the spa amenities. They had a steam room, sauna, giant jacuzzis, several luxury showers and two plunge pools. I’d highly recommended following the steps to “rejuvenate” your body that are located on the wall of the spa. We all had never felt better after doing the steps in order!

Definitely book ahead at the spa as well, especially if you’re planning to have your spa day in the morning. Originally we wanted to go to the spa at Resort World, but most spas were booked up until about 3 PM.
On Friday, we had appointments at The Dry Bar located in The Cosmopolitan. They, as well, were running behind. We booked appointments at 5 PM and did not get seated until 6:15. Luckily, we had time built-in to accommodate this, but many girls missed their dinner reservations because of it. Again, build in extra time!
Hotel
We stayed at The Vdara which is connected to The Aria. I preferred this side of the strip over the opposite side because it felt newer and had more of the trendy activities. If I were going back, I’d most likely stay at The Vdara, The Aria or The Cosmopolitan.
Shows
We went to Absinthe which took place in a smaller venue in Caesar’s. We loved this show! Although heads up, it’s very raunchy! We were all laughing and entertained the whole show. It was like a giant variety show with comedy, improv, dancing, singing, and crazy acrobat stunts. Head’s up: don’t buy tickets towards the front if you don’t want to be involved in the show. There was tons of audience participation!
There is a sister show, Opium, that I would love to see next time we’re in town.
Outfits
Vegas was much more casual than I anticipated. However, I don’t regret dressing up at all! I’d say about 30% of the girls went all-out, but again it was very normal dress attire for the most part. Most important piece of advice I can give you ladies, wear kitten heels or comfortable shoes! Vegas has lots of walking.
On Friday night, I wore a dress from Club L London. They have tons of loud, Vegas-approved outfits. Linking my outfit here.

My Saturday outfit reminded me a lot of Taylor Swift’s VMA look when she won for “Bad Blood.” I’m obsessed with the houndstooth trend, so when I found the sequin look I had to have it!
Linking the top here, and matching skirt here.
My shoes I cannot rave about enough! They were so comfortable and practical. Excited to have these in my closet for a while! Linking them here.

I didn’t have my bag in this photo, but I loved it. It was so spacious and easy to carry for a clutch! Linking it here.

After leaving Vegas, I can definitely say it’s like Disney World for adults. We had such a great time and can’t wait to go back! Cheers to 30! 🥂💞

Ulta 21 Days of Beauty – My Picks!
If you follow me on Instagram, you know my favorite time of the year is the bi-annual Ulta 21 Days of Beauty sale. For fall of 2022, there are tons of great products that I’m so excited to stock up on! I’ll be listing my picks by day in chronological order.

Wednesday, August 31st: This day has so many great picks! Starting off with the Smashbox x BECCA Highlighter in Champagne Pop. This is and will always be one of my favorite highlights of all time.
My next pick are any of the Lilly Lashes or Velour lashes. Splurging on nice lashes for special occasions is definitely worth it, in my opinion! They look amazing on camera and stay on better than drugstore lashes.

Sunday, September 4th: Another day with two favorites! The Bobbi Brown Gel Liner is amazing and super easy to apply.
I’ve been wanting to try the NARS Lip Balm since it came out, so I’ll be buying one of these!
Thursday, September 8th: For some reason, they’re grouping all of my favorite products on the same days. Great for the environment/shipping, awful for my wallet.
Starting off with the Tarte Tartelette Tubing Mascara. This mascara is amazing if you have straight lashes and works really well with falsies.
The Patchology Under Eye Patches are my favorite eye patches out there! I like to save them for special occasions.
The Dermalogica Superfoliant I’ve been dying to try. I use the Daily Microfoliant every day and it’s my absolute favorite, so I’m sure this will be just as good – if not better.

Friday, September 9th: The Jaclyn Hill highlights are some of my favorites! I’ve been wanting to try the color “Bomb” for months, so I’ll be getting that.

Saturday, September 10th: It! Cosmetic makeup brushes are seriously my favorites. You think brushes don’t really matter until you try these. They’re serious game-changers. The foundation brush is insane.
I’ve been wanting to try NudeStix for a few months now because they look incredibly easy to blend out, so I’ll be getting a shimmer and a matte shade.

Sunday, September 11th: Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray. It’s the best in the setting spray game – don’t @ me. Puts all others to shame.

Tuesday, September 13th: The LORAC Meraki palette is one of my go-tos! Such versatile colors that all blend out beautifully. Set your alarms for this one – it always sells out super quick!

Saturday, September 17th: I absolutely love all of my Kyle Lip Kits so I’ll be buying a few more colors that I don’t have! “Queen” is my favorite!
Wedding Dress Shopping: The Do’s and Don’ts.

When it comes to your wedding dress, I can speak from experience that you’ll absolutely know when you put it on for the first time. That’s how I felt when I put on “Jacqueline” by Maggie Sottero. The second the bridal consultant zipped me up, I lost it. (In a good way.) That was one of my biggest anxieties when walking into my dress try-ons; that I wouldn’t have that “moment” everyone talks about or that “feeling.” Although I will say, this moment is much more likely to happen if you make sure that you’re creating the environment for it to happen. Here are some of my wedding dress try-on tips if you’re planning on going soon.

One: Pay Attention to How the Dress Makes You Feel.
First thing is first, when you’re trying on dresses, make sure you’re paying attention to how it makes you feel and what you love about it. For me personally, I loved how my Maggie Sottero dress made my petite frame not look swallowed up in a ball gown. I originally did not want a fitted gown, but after the first four ball gowns I was like, “okay, time to change course.” I also absolutely loved how Jacqueline gave me a fitted look, but I didn’t have to lose any drama (which I wanted!) in the train. Also, the subtle rhinestone buttons gave me that hint of sparkle I wanted. Overall, I loved how my dress was classic and timeless but still made me feel glamorous. Believe me, when you find “the one” you’ll remember how it felt on you more than anything.

Two: Less is More.
I know that you want all of your closest friends and family members there with you, but trust me when I say that less is more. It’s so easy to turn dress shopping into an event, and it should be! However, Keep it to three or less people at your appointment if you can. The less opinions you’re hearing in the room the better, because I mean let’s face it — the only opinion in the room that matters is yours. Your dream wedding dress will not be the same as the other people in the room. If you’re letting outside opinions get in the way, it’s harder to have that special moment for you. You don’t want to try on a dress, like it but not love it, and have your cousin at the end say “I liked that second dress you tried on better.” Talk about ruining the moment. Only bring the people that you know will support and love whatever you try-on and keep their negative opinions to themselves.
Three: Try everything on.
When I went in to my first dress appointment, I was convinced with everything in me that I wanted long sleeves. As I was trying on the sleeved gowns, I just wasn’t loving how they looked on myself. The dress consultant brought in a few other options that to be honest I wasn’t excited about at all, but when I put them on I was shocked. You never know until you try. I’m so glad I stepped outside of my comfort zone and tried on other options because it led me to finding my dress. The craziest part was that it was absolutely nothing like I’d pictured, but somehow it was better. However I will say, make sure everything that your dress consultant is bringing you is within your budget, and make your dress budget very clear and known. There’s nothing worse than finding a dress you absolutely love then finding out it’s $2,000 over your budget.

Four: Don’t Get Discouraged — Keep Looking!
The pressure to find your wedding dress on the first appointment is so high, but guess what? You don’t have to buy a dress the first appointment! This also ties into keeping the event small because the pressure is even higher to get a dress when your friends and family from out of town came just to watch you “say yes to the dress”. I didn’t find my dress until my second appointment, and it also gave me a much better idea of what I wanted after the first appointment. I had time to look back on pictures from my first appointment and see which dresses flattered my figure the most and I felt I looked best in. There is no rush, so take your time and enjoy the process. You can always send pictures to your friends and family members afterwards or FaceTime them if you find your dress at a different appointment.

Five: What To Bring.
When I went to my appointments, I made sure to wear something super comfortable and easy to change in and out of. I also brought a nude strapless bra, wore a nude thong, my nude Spanx and shoes that were easy to slip off. A hair-tie in your purse is also a must to see how the dresses might look with your hair up. I also made sure I had my dress inspiration pictures freshly screen-shotted in my camera roll so they’d be super easy to pull up to show the consultant. (There wasn’t great cell service at my first appointment and I’m so glad I’d done this!) Make sure you have a designated friend/family member to take your phone and consistently be taking pictures and videos. (Trust me on this one, you’ll want to see how your dress looks from all angles, still and video so you can practice posing before the big day.) Another piece of advice? Don’t schedule a lunch/brunch/dinner reservation after the bridal appointment because you’ll feel rushed the whole time.
Six: Get Out of Your Head.
For me, this was probably the hardest thing to do. I was so concerned with my dress and myself “looking perfect” for the first appointment that I wasn’t present. This is such a special time for you and you need to take a few moments to take it all in. Also remember that the wedding dress cinched up with clips or a bit too small will look completely different once it’s altered in the best way. You’ll also have your veil and your hair and makeup done, so all the pieces will really come together. Focus on the dress itself, not the other elements surrounding it.

This experience was one of my favorite parts of wedding planning, and I hope it is for you too. You’ll look absolutely beautiful in whatever dress you choose, whether it’s exactly what you imagined or nothing like it at all. I absolutely loved my Maggie Sottero dress. As long as you feel incredible in your dress, you’ll radiate that on your big day. Sending so much love to all of my future brides.

It’s all in the Wedding details.

I’m so excited to share some of my favorite little details from our wedding day. My goal for how this wedding would feel was classic, rustic glam. I wanted it to feel warm and romantic with lots of creams and ivories and gold. The details were what I had the most fun with while planning, and here are the things I thought were worth it. First thing’s first, I want to give all the praise to my photographer, Laura Moll. She was in the hospital the morning of my wedding and still showed up to shoot our wedding (without missing a beat and making everything perfect, I might add.)
Starting it off with ordering a ring box off of Amazon that matched my colors! My jeweler gave us a blue box, but I knew I wanted the whole detail shot to look clean and bright. It was an easy $13 detail that made a huge difference.

When the ceremony started, I knew I wanted a champagne pass to kick the evening off. Let’s be real, at weddings you’re running into a lot of people you haven’t seen in years, don’t really want to see, (or do), and meeting tons of new people. I thought a champagne pass would lighten the mood instantly and I’m so happy we did that!

The getting ready robes! When I saw this was my most-asked question, I’m serious! The robes are by Robed With Love and they’re all hand-made. I’m still obsessed with everything about them! (“MEGANMACE” gets you 15% off if you want to get some for your big day!)

Ahhhh, the bridesmaids dresses!!! These dresses by Show Me Your Mumu blew me away. They looked beautiful on camera and on my girls. I went with the champagne luxe satin for a timeless, beautiful feel. My girls wore the “Jasmine” and the “Godshaw Goddess” dresses.

Now these next little details were my absolute favorite. For our dinner napkins, we had custom paper napkins made by For Your Party. They said “Dinner with the McKays” and they matched our theme perfectly. You can get this exact design here.

Next, we knew we were going to have a sparkler send-off, so we thought adding a personal touch there would be fun as well! We used For Your Party for these custom designs as well. We had sparkler sleeves and custom matchbooks!

MY CAKE. I mean, this cake was what my wedding cake dreams were made of. Copper Whisk Cakes absolutely killed it. For my topper, I found this cute custom piece on Etsy! I’m so happy I decided to get one as I was on the fence about it. You can find the exact topper here.

Now, here are some more detailed shots of my beautiful cake. We went with Salted Caramel with Toffee pieces for half, and classic funfetti for the other half!

The most special part about the cake-cutting experience was that Witt’s Grandmother gave us the same cake knife to use that she and Witt’s grandfather used to cut their wedding cake.

Now, here’s a close up of my bouquet. Peonies are my all-time favorite flower, so I was freaking out in the best way when I saw my bouquet. In fact, that’s what made the whole day “hit.” I started sobbing when I saw it. Carre at White Blooms Floral did an absolutely incredible job on all of my florals. All of the flowers were sourced from Fifty Flowers and they were perfection.

Now, here are some more pictures of the flowers. This turned out to be my favorite thing to see on our wedding day. Also, no one talks about how incredible and fragrant the room smells when you use real flowers! I was blown away.

I also loved the detailed florals that were behind the chairs on the ceremony lawn. I thought they ended up looking so glamorous and fun.

THE MARQUEE LETTERS!!! We used Alpha Lit Nashville to have “The McKays” be the first thing everyone saw when they walked up, and it ended up being the best “Welcome Sign” we could have ever dreamt up. I love how old hollywood and glam it felt. Alpha Lit provides letters all over the country, so if they’re near your location I cannot say enough great things about them. You can see if they deliver near you here.

Our cocktail hour was absolute charcuterie board goals, which is exactly what I wanted. We used Witt’s sister’s company, In Good Company. They absolutely blew me away. Everything was incredible, and trust me when I say to splurge for the buffalo dip.

Our wedding paper! We used The Knot for all of our paper, including invitations and wedding programs. They proofed everything for us and everything looked stunning. (PS, if you use code “MEGANWITT15” you’ll get 15% off, too!)

Last but not least, I decided to go with a mirrored seating chart. I found the mirror on Facebook Marketplace for $60, and found the custom decal on Etsy. Linking the exact company I used here. She was so sweet and helpful and got it to me right when I needed it. She even fixed a few edits for me as the seating chart changed.
My drink signs I also found a template for on Etsy! The frames I bought at Michael’s and I’m going to re-use them for wedding pictures. Linking the templates here, and the frames here.

Alright, leaving it at this: if your venue gives you the option to have fireworks, the answer is yes. (Shoutout to Allenbrooke Farms!)

I’m so excited to share more pictures from this day. Seeing my dream wedding come to life was everything I thought it would be and more. Thank you to all of you who have been sending me congratulations messages and loving DMs on Instagram. We feel so loved and supported entering this new phase of life.
